AUSTRIA: REQUIREMENTS

There are two methods to enter Austria as a highly skilled worker:

    1. You can apply for a job seeker visa if you meet the requirements, and then enter Austria to find an appropriate occupation within 6 months, and finally obtain the residence card; or
    2. You can obtain a job in an Austrian business, and directly apply for a residence card in your local Austrian consulate.

In order to obtain a job seeker visa, you have to be a highly-qualified worker, and the system to evaluate such skills is a point system. We will omit the exact scheme of earning points, but you will obtain more points if you:

    1. Graduated from a post-secondary institute, especially in the field of mathematics, informatics, natural history or technology;
    2. Have higher education degrees such as masters or PhD;
    3. Are paid above 50,000 EUR per year, and the higher the better;
    4. Are in the fields of research or innovations;
    5. Have obtained important awards;
    6. Have multiple years of work experience;
    7. At least worked in Austria for 6 months;
    8. Have studied in Austria;
    9. Speak English or German;
    10. Below 45 years of age, and the lower, the better;
    11. Intend to work in mechanical, electrical, telecommunications, power, data processing or other specialized engineering fields, and have graduated with relevant degrees;
