      2. You have a comprehensive health insurance that covers the entirety of Austria, so that you will not be a fiscal burden to the national healthcare system;
      3. A basic level of German (A2), that you can prove via a standardised test;
      4. You have acquired an adequate place to reside in Austria;
      5. Once approved, you have to live in Austria for more than half of each year in order to maintain your residence.

There may be other requirements such as a non-criminal record that need to be fulfilled.

AUSTRIA: LIST OF DOCUMENTS

Besides the commonplace identity and security documents such as passports, birth certificates, and criminal records, we have provided a list of important documents that should be included in your dossier:

      7. Criminal record of your local police authorities;
      8. A motivation letter explaining your relocation.

AUSTRIA: PROCESS

There are many steps involved to apply for a residence in Austria as a wealthy individual from a country that is outside of the EEU zone, as most of the citizens from Europe can relocate to Austria without any prior notice or procedures. Here we mostly focus on the process for those who are outside the zone that entitles you to freedom of movement. They are:

      7. Once two years have passed, you can obtain your third card, valid for 3 years;
      8. After 5 years of continuous residence status in Austria, you may obtain the permanent residency, valid for 10 years.
